drupal

Drupal is a mighty fine Content Management System which we at Leafish use regularly. This section contains ideas, code snippets and modules which I thought may come in useful for Drupal admins and developers. I won't be officially supporting this code, but feel free to contact me if you have any problems or suggestions.

drupal.org moves to new servers

29th Aug
2005

drupal_thanks_0.pngI'm back from sunny Normandy. I had a fantastic two weeks, thanks for asking. Super-slow, hot weather, lots of land to roam around in and our very own donkey and water vole. Pictures as soon as get hold of my brother's digital camera!

A nice surprise when I returned was the news that the lucky folks at drupal.org have got their sites moved over to their new servers. In a recent hiccup with their old host, the Drupal guys realised they were quickly outgrowing their existing setup and something needed to be done, ASAP. The Drupal community consists of users and developers alike, and was getting busier day by day.

Fortunately, the Drupal community is a strong one, and after a donation drive they managed to gather nearly three times the amount they were after for a new server.

Post Calendars for Drupal

2nd Aug
2005

If you check out the front page of this site, you'll see I've stolen those little 'calendar' type icons to display the date of my posts. I first noticed em on mozilla.org, but they're appearing on many a blog site.

I've cobbled together a Drupal module which will achieve this. The post calendar code is inserted into the node body and teaser using nodeapi. Its effectively replacing the normal post info Drupal provides, which should be switched off in the theme.
