Sod Newquay, Shell Island it is
Wotcha. Our trip to Newquay collapsed, so some of us crammed in a Micra and headed over to Shell Island on the west coast of North Wales. A ridiculously expensive trip to Tesco (we did buy a torch each...) and a somewhat slow drive in a struggling one litre later we were settled with steak on the barbecue and more alcohol than was sensibly neccessary. Here's some pics.
(the rest of the photos reside on flickr)
Shell Island
Go macro.
Hanny bought Heidi a football. It got kicked once, and landed atop Tom's new kitchen knife (from Tesco too). Bye bye football, hello rather spiffing hat.
Tom enjoys the fumes.
There you go, token sunset.
Our campsite once Hanny and Sammy left.
Finding shade wherever possible.
Some people were getting desparate for some kayak action. Kayaktion.
Micra + bucket = mini fire engine
Barmouth/Dolgellau
The last couple of days of the week were spent flitting in and around Barmouth and Dolgellau.
The 'Arousal' Café. Hem hem hem.
River run dry,
Penmaenpool toll bridge, where Heidi's dad works. We got across the rickety structure for free. You see, its not what you know, its who you know.
We arrived at the George hotel/pub five minutes after food stopped being served. Bloody typical.
We had no idea what this one was all about. Sounds like a tough break.

Four of us
Four of us in that beast. We off-loaded stuff into Hanny's car on the way down, including the most ridiculous Tesco shop ever. Unfortunately he and Sammy left earlier than us so we had to bin half a gazebo. Shame.
