Grungy Art & Design has always been something of an “easy ride” for a Designer to pull off.  Find some old and run down buildings or architecture? Check! Scour deviantart.com for some grungy Photoshop brushes? Check! Mush it all around in Photoshop, et voilà!

This gets you only so far, the magic happens when you combine a grungy processing technique with strong vintage design.  The Art Deco era and WW2 Art and design posters are a great and interesting area to read up on.

I’ll be sharing some of my techinques and findings soon. Including the all important RESEARCH. with pointers and some Inspiration for you to check out.

The post-man just dropped off our complimentary copy of Glitch: Designing Imperfection.  Nick submitted art to the project a while back and with the book now published and selling in the UK and the US, it was nice to get hold of a copy and rifle through the many inspirational pieces submitted.

We can proudly show off some of the Design Work we’ve been working on over the past few days. Branding and Package Design for Loco.Soap.Co.

The Guys and Girls over at LSC we’re big on the whole retro styling of their new branding so they wanted that whole vibe carried through their product range. The red background of the Pump Package is just there to simulate the colour of the product, the design is transparent. The Soap Bar designs are coloured paper.

By Splitting up a photograph into distinct visual planes at varying depths through the shot in Photoshop then painting in by hand the missing details, you can then recompile this scene in After Effects to create some stunning slow motion 3D-Like moments.

Our Photographer Business Cards have arrived and we’re really pleased with them. The picture above shows only a small amount of the whole awesomeness we had printed. Thanks Moo!
