About me

Paul ByrneBorn in Chester in 1979, I was brought up in Shotton, Deeside in a rather lovely 5-bedroomed house recently built upon the orchards of a mate's Grandma... who sold the land for a ridiculously low amount. Wonder what happened to all those apples.

I was educated at Shotton Infants School, Rector Drew junior school in Hawarden and Hawarden High, where I studied for GCSE and stayed on to complete three A-levels and one AS-level. Head of sixth form was Mr Paul Brighton, who is currently the Liberal Democrat candidate for the Alyn & Deeside constituency. Rhubarb! Rhubarb!

Computing was a hobby of mine until I began to take it seriously at the University of Warwick where I studied for a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science. Maths was always my strong point at school, but I wanted to do something practical rather than theoretical so computing it was. Shame the course at Warwick was pretty damn theoretical, with minimal practical programming and projects, at least in the first two years. Nevertheless, university was a wonderful time where I forged many friendships, expanded by musical tastes and got to rag around in trollies whilst on the tipsier side of completely drunk. Bloody students.

Website development came kind of accidental, when I was employed by a local games company, Jester Interactive. Turned up in a lovely Marks and Sparks suit, I did, only to be greeted by a member of staff with dreads, in bare-foot.

After a good two and a half years at Jester, I left to start up Leafish with a good friend Dylan Sides. After a slow start and some small freelance jobs, we discovered Drupal and haven't looked back since. I'm currently living and working in North Wales, UK.

I also play guitar in Babylon Leaf. Whilst we're on indefinite hold, something might happen somewhere, soon. Maybe.
